Scholarships can reduce the cost of studying, but only if you apply correctly and safely.
Your checklist
- Find schemes on official sources: the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in), your state portal, your school and the board's website.
- Read the eligibility: class, marks, family income, category and school type.
- Keep documents ready: marksheets, income certificate, caste certificate if applicable, bank account details and a passport photo.
- Note the last date and apply a week early so you can fix mistakes.
- Save your application number and a copy of the submitted form.
Example: CBSE merit scholarship
CBSE has offered a merit scholarship for single girl children who score well in Class 10 and continue in Classes 11 and 12. Check the current eligibility and dates on cbse.gov.in.
Stay safe
Genuine government scholarships never ask you to pay a fee to "release" money. Avoid unknown links shared on social media, and never share your OTP or passwords.
When in doubt, ask your school coordinator or a teacher before you submit anything.
A little care at the start saves a lot of stress later. Genuine opportunities reward students who read the rules, stay organised and apply early.
