7 Smart Ways to Revise Before CBSE Board Exams

CBSE & RBSE Board Guides 2 min read

Revision works best when it is active, not passive. Reading the same notes again feels productive, but it fades fast. Try these seven habits instead.

Your 7-step revision plan

  • Split the syllabus into chapters and tick each one as you finish revising it.
  • Use active recall: close the book and write down everything you remember.
  • Solve at least five years of previous year papers under a timer.
  • Keep a short "mistake notebook" of errors you made and the right method.
  • Revise formulas, dates and definitions every morning for ten minutes.
  • Study in 45-minute blocks with a 10-minute break to stay fresh.
  • Sleep at least seven hours; a tired brain forgets what tired eyes read.

Make it stick

Teaching a concept aloud to a friend, or even to a wall, quickly shows what you really know. Start with your weakest chapter while your mind is fresh, and finish each day with a quick recap of what you studied.

On Examisthan, you can pair this plan with free chapter notes, practice questions and mock tests to check your progress. Consistency beats last-minute cramming every time.

Before every exam, spend the last evening on light revision of your mistake notebook and formula sheet rather than learning anything brand new. Stay calm and trust your preparation.
